Ian B. Jamieson - A stuntman

February's Program

Ian B. Jamieson was born on the 11th of June 1952 in Adelaide and grew up in the country town of Meningie. He finished schooling in the city, at Westminster, as a boarder where he was a better sportsman than a student.

As a teenager, he backpacked to New Zealand twice and started his worldly adventures. Back in Adelaide he began training to be a stuntman along with more than 130 other potentials. After one year he was the only one still standing.

"I didn't really want to be a stuntman as my dream was to be a film producer. However, stunts were the only way into the film industry for me."

In the mid '70s he started Australian Stunts and began training a group of potential stuntmen and women for the re-emerging film industry. Eight of them are now famous Stunt Coordinators.

Ian later became a documentary film producer, developed concepts, raised budgets and made several productions. One was Pirates of the South China Seas. He finished his first book, "Bring on the Stuntman" and travelled for the first time to exotic Thailand.

In '79, he worked with the world's greatest stuntman, Evel Knievel and his teenage son Robbie, on his Australian tour.

In 1986 he had the adventure of a lifetime and, with three stunt friends, toured Poland performing their unique stunts.

In 1991 Ian moved to Phuket to setup Tarzan's Bungy Jump and soon after opened franchises in 6 other countries. By 2000 he had opened his second stunt school, working on live shows and TV productions. His sons, Ben and Nathan, trained at this time and proved that talent is also in the blood.

In 2003-4, Ian produced the TV series China's Greatest Dares in Australia and then moved back to Thailand in 2005. Over the last three years, Ian has completed his second book KASKADER, about his time in Poland whilst living in a quiet area of Phuket waiting for the next adventure.
