Program Topic: Education outlook for Phuket, a panel presentation with Q&A.
Phuket International Academy (PIA) comprises three centres: the PIA Day School, the PIA Sports, Arts and Wellness Centre and the PIA Mind Centre. They offer students, parents and those from the wider Phuket and international communities, a state of the art, sustainable facility which focuses on education, sports, arts and wellness. Phuket International Academy is located in an area of natural beauty amidst the foothills of a national park on the eastern part of Phuket island, Thailand. Dr. Supaluck was born and raised on the Phuket, received a B.A. in Economics from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, a M.B.A. in General Management and Ph.D. in International Relations Denver University, Denver, Colorado, USA. Dr Supaluck has managed Wittaya Sathid school since 1998. Additionally she is President of Phuket Sunshine Village Foundation, Chairperson of Child-Watch Phuket and a Member of Lions Club of Phuket Pearl.
Wittaya Sathid School Mission: To create a Thai school using Thai curriculum with the emphasis in English. Providing education for children ages 2 years old and above for kindergarten through elementary level 6. We intend to prepare children at kindergarten level to be ready for the elementary. At kindergarten, we teach children to learn and play with fun. This is quite different from other Thai schools who put a lot of emphasis in reading and writing at their earliest age. The goal of QSI is to provide an academically challenging and personally enriching English medium education for students of ages 3 through 18 years, Most of the QSI schools have a preschool or early childhood program. Secondary School graduates of QSI integrate successfully into higher education institutions in the USA and other countries.
QSI uses a Mastery Learning model of instruction that is a focused and powerful way of organizing both curriculum (what is taught) and instruction (the way it is taught). The effectiveness of Mastery Learning is validated by educational research.

Regular Meeting September 11th, 2009
Bangkok security specialist Frank DeSomer will address some of the street level crimes and how they effect tourists and residents as well as larger serious activities from internal employee threats to transnational crime and terrorism. During these economic challenges the criminal elements are becoming more aggressive and riskier in their daily routine.
Security is a program, it has to be developed and managed, sustained and reinforced. Management must balance "security with convenience".
Mr Frank DeSomer is a retired U.S.Marine presently working in Thailand within the Private Security Sector, who also Chairs the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) for the U.S. State Department.

Regular Meeting July 10th, 2009
Richard Bell has confirmed that he will be bringing 40+ copies of the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill to give away at the August meeting. During his presentation Richard offered to give a book to attendees of the July meeting, but for sure there will be a few extra copies for those that weren't able to be there. Think and Grow Rich is the number 1 highest selling and most read book of all motivational books of all time.

Regular Meeting June 12th, 2009
Our June program will be a panel presentation by representatives from several of Phuket's legal firms. Our panelists will be highlighting some of the legal issues for foreigners living and working in Thailand. Over the years the Legal Eagles program has been extremely popular and is one of our largest and most well-attended programs.
Each firm will introduce themselves and touch on the topic of their primary interest before opening our Q&A session.

Regular Meeting April 17th, 2009
Note this program is a week later than normal due to the Songkran Holiday.
Economic difficulties aren't only in the US and Europe, they're right here in Phuket. And the foreign business community operating here doesn't always have the understanding or support more available in their home countries.
The program planned will offer tips, guidelines and worthwhile suggestions for recognizing and dealing with stress, from a serious to a not so serious perspective. The sun tanned tourists might look at us a bit funny when we truthfully say that it's not always easy living here.
If you're a regular visitor to our monthly meetings, or a first time visitor this will be a great evening to invite along a colleague or friend to enjoy an enlightening program, some great food, a complimentary drink and some interesting networking.

Regular Meeting March 13th, 2009

Tonight is our Annual Meeting where we thank the officers and trustees for their dedication and support in guiding and developing IBAP. Next we'll welcome in the incoming officers and trustees and present a few awards for some outstanding service to IBAP.
To offset the excitement of our annual meeting we're wrapping the evening in an all Hawaiian theme evening that includes atmosphere and decorations, pretty girls in grass skirts, Hawaiian classic food, and some exotic Hawaiian dance entertainment.
Come and support the team that makes IBAP work, bring a friend to introduce to Phuket's premier networking association, and you can even bring the kids for some pretty exciting shows.

Regular Meeting February 13th, 2009
Tonight's program is especially designed to improve the quality of communications for all of us living and working within the Thai-farang community.
Glen Dunkley, a Canadian and recently retired UN educator and trainer, AND Wanida Hongyok, a Phuket native and former cross-cultural columnist for the Phuket Gazette (pen-name "Momma Duck") will guide us through a lively, fun, entertaining and informative evening.
This is a great opportunity for farang to bring a Thai guest and for a Thai to bring a farang guest, someone that you live and/or work with. It is a certainty that you will have fun and be surprised with what Glen and Wanida will increase your awareness of.

Tonight is special for everyone. IBAP is about networking, networking is about meeting people and our January program brings it all together, and with a lot of fun.
Our team of Networking Specialists will be using a stopwatch and whistle to move everyone within small groups for abuout 30 seconds of high speed introductions for themselves and their companies..
